The Early Years Curriculum at Sebright
Your child will be learning skills, acquiring new knowledge and demonstrating their understanding through seven areas of learning and development.
There are three prime areas that are embedded in everything we do:
- Communication and Language
- Physical Development
- Personal, Social and Emotional Development
These life skills are essential to healthy development and future learning and lead on to the four specific areas:
- Understanding the World
- Expressive Arts and Design
Ofsted rated the Early Years provision at Sebright in May 2019 as outstanding:
“Children get off to a flying start in early years and make outstanding progress from their starting points. The Early Years environment is highly engaging and stimulating, inside and outdoors. No opportunities for learning are missed.”
The Early Years at Sebright will provide an environment that is safe, happy, warm, stimulating, challenging and fun. Our holistic approach ensures children become confident, inspired and independent learners who love to play, co-operate and explore with their friends.
You will sign a permission slip at the beginning of the school year for all of the subsequent trips.
Before your child starts school, they will be given their own book bag. We don’t assign homework but will change their books regularly. We will also occasionally give out home learning packs and activities too.
Every child in the school is in a team colour. You will find out your team colour in September. Children wear white PE tops that can be bought from the Trutex uniform shop.
Being School Ready!
Starting school is an exciting and nervous time for children and parents! Talk to your child about their feelings about starting in September. Help your child become more independent with dressing and talk about personal hygiene.
