Year 6 Pupil Donated Her Hair to Little Princess Trust

This all started when I was at my dad’s friend’s house and one of them questioned, “Your hair is so long! When are you going to cut it?”

This got me thinking I’ve got really thick long hair, why don’t I grow it even longer and donate it to someone to make them smile? I know our City Year Ms Norris had just donated her hair, so I asked her where she donated it: Little Princess Trust.

Little Princess Trust make wigs for children and young people up to the age of 24 who have lost their hair due to cancer and other treatments.

This organisation felt like a great place to donate to because my grandma died from cancer when I was 2 months old and our family went through a lot. I can’t imagine what a young person living with cancer would be going through and if I could do something to help then I wanted to! I’ve always loved helping people and seeing people happy, so donating my hair so that I could bring a smile to a child living with cancer just felt right.

When I cut my hair, it was 18 inches long (which is one of the most needed lengths!). To donate it, I had to wash it first but not condition it. Then my hair was partitioned into 4 groups, elastics put around these groups and it was cut! It’s also easy to mail; just write the address on the packet and include your address inside.

For additional information please check out their website.

They’re taking donations again! #welovelockdownlocks
