Welcome to Our School Council

Our School Council is a group of pupil representatives, elected by their classmates, who work together with staff to make Sebright even better. They gather ideas, share feedback, and lead projects that improve everyday school life. Through regular meetings and pupil voice activities, the Council helps ensure every child has a say in the things that matter—learning, wellbeing, inclusion, the environment, and enrichment.

Autumn Term Highlights

Diversity Week for Black History Month

The School Council organised a whole‑school Diversity Week as part of Black History Month. They created eye‑catching posters and flyers to promote the events, helping to celebrate our community and highlight stories, achievements, and voices from a range of backgrounds.

Pupil Voice Surveys

Across the week, councillors surveyed pupils during breaktimes to find out their top priorities for improving school life. The questions focused on what children enjoy, what could be even better, and ideas for new activities and improvements.

Using the survey results, councillors met in December to review the feedback and agree on clear priorities to take forward in the Spring Term.

Spring Term Priorities

Meeting the Catering Team

Councillors will meet with our catering partners to discuss meal options, including variety, pupil preferences, and ways to make lunchtimes healthier and more enjoyable.

Improving the Lunchtime Experience

The Council will work with staff to explore practical changes—such as routines, dining hall setup, and pupil roles—that can make lunchtimes calmer, quicker, and more fun for everyone.

Launching a Lunchtime Reading Club

In response to pupil interest, the School Council will help set up a Reading Club during lunchtime, creating a welcoming space to read for pleasure, share recommendations, and develop a love of books.
