Welcome to Year 2 and a new Spring term

Curriculum Map - Spring 2019

PE Days: Tuesday PM & Wednesday AM

Children are encouraged to bring in their PE bags on Monday.


Children should bring in their book bags every day. Please comment and sign book records to show they are reading for 20 minutes each day. Reading with your child makes so much difference.


Please ensure your child has breakfast before coming to school as it can affect their focus and concentration.

Water bottles

Children are encouraged to bring in water bottles with plain water. Water bottles also need to be made from plastic or metal.


Long Burst 1:

We will continue focusing on retelling the real life events. Later on this term, we will be writing formal and informal letters.

  • Geometry: Position & Direction

Cross-Curricular Studies

This term, we will be exploring what makes a person significant. We will be comparing explores from different periods,  exploring the lives of Sarah Marquis, Neil Armstrong and Captain Scott.

We are looking through the Jigsaw unit, Dreams and Goals.


Year 2 is revising all the common exception words from Year 1. We also need to able to read all our phonics sounds we have learned so far. We will be bringing home weekly spelling list; please make time to practise with your child!
