PE will be on Monday and Friday.
Book bags need to be brought into school everyday and will be changed every Monday.
This term we are continuing our learning journey of finding things out, discovering, experimenting, creating, building, designing, connecting and so much more! Our topic for the spring term is ‘Time travellers.’ We will use our daily lessons to look at this further.
For the first half of the term we will look at building our writing confidence. This will include;
- Knowing the common exception words
- Role-play and drama
- Writing in sentences
- Letter formation
The second half term will involve diary entries looking at;
- Writing in the first person
- Role play and hot seating
- Writing with empathy
- Being in character
As well as all this we will continue to look at building and making sentences, writing in sequence (building paragraphs), using personal pronouns, letter formation and our Year 1 spellings.
For the first half of the term we will look at Measurements. This includes;
- Telling time to the hour
- Sequencing events
- Capacity and mass
For the second half of the term we will look at Geometry including;
- Positioning and directions.
- Making turns
We will also continue to look at the 4 operations- adding, subtracting, multiplying and dividing.
Out topic this term is ‘Animals including humans.’ We will;
- Look at animal groups
- Investigate our senses
- Discover the human body and skeleton
- Explore animal lifecycles
As ‘time travellers’ our topic will be ‘Toys and games.’ This will involve;
- Looking at toys/games old and new
- Comparing toys/games from different periods
- Designing and creating our own toys
For the second part of the term we will look at ‘Transport and travel.’
- Invention of travel
- Comparing travel from the past to the present
- Naming various travel modes
